FMP Pitch

Slide 1. My FMP will be a short film called 'Guardian".
Slide 2. my short film will be around 10-15 minutes long. the genre of my short film is Superhero/thriller.
Slide 3. with my short film i want to approach real world matters that are happening now. so i want to base my film on terrorism and new world leaders, and the threats these matters bring.
Slide 4. the story starts with the main character Alex, who is homeless and living on the streets, he is then approached by a mysterious man who tells him that he has great powers and needs to use them for good  also that one day he will save the world. this turns out to be a flashback and now alex is using his powers to save and help people in need. Alex's powers are super strength and he can sense when someone is in danger or will be in danger.

Corporate Video Codes and Conventions

Codes and Conventions of Corporate Video

- Interviews
- Music
- Camera work
- Editing pace
- Lighting

Interviews -

Interview costumers to find out there opinions about the company you are making the corporate video for.
Only ever show positive feedback for the company in the video, this is because it will make the company look more professional and the video also.

Music -

The music used if you choose to use any should not be to loud, because it will distract the viewer from the voice over.
Make sure that the music is suitable and is not copyrighted otherwise this could complicate things immensely, the safest option to avoid any copy right complications is to make your own music.

Camera work -

Lots of corporate videos have panning and zooming to make the viewer focus on what the company wants you to buy/use.
Panning the camera gives the viewer a more in depth look at the product the company is selling.

Editing pace -

with corporate videos the editing pace is usually set at a slow pace so it is calming for the viewer and they can take all the information in instead of it being thrown in there face and then they forget about it. but sometimes the editing may be at a faster pace because the product  may suit this type of edit.

Lighting -

with lighting it would be best if everything was bright so that the viewer doesn't miss any detail of the product also if you need them to be darker you can edit it to look like that after, but you will still have an original.
Also bright environments look more inviting and clean this will put an expectation in the viewers head whilst watching.

Case Study - Idents

Disney Ident -

The disney ident consists of a castle with 'Disney' in front of it. It starts with a camera within the composition looking at the sky and it tracks down and through the clouds, this is done by changing keyframes on the cameras x and y axis. The flag onto of the castle comes into shot as the camera moves further out this is done by moving on the z axis, whilst this is happening fireworks are going off which are added in and timed to move when the camera comes past. it finishes up with the whole castle and the tinkle bell travelling from onside to the other side this is done by changing keyframes again on the particle simulation's position. The text that fades in is done by changing the opacity at different times of the sequence. There is one element that has been used to make all of this possible it is 3D this adds an extra axis to the composition this is the z axis this allows you to move in and out of the composition.
The way this ident is used to attract there target audience is by using the correct colours they have used rich bright colours as this grabs the attention of most adults but ultimatly it attracts children becaus ethey like to look at bold and bright colours just like in animations and cartoons they use bright and bold colours. Also the font used is very important to because it is what ultimatly sticksin your mind (the name), with the disney font it is not to harsh or bold to look at and also it doesnt take anything away from the rest of theident.
The purpose and intent of this ident is to promote disney. Also it is used in all of disney's film so you know what you are watching.

Paramount Ident -

The paramount ident consists of a mountain with clouds below it, the paramount title with a circle of stars around it and the top of the mountain. The ident starts with a camera moving on its z axis outwards with the stars moving towards the camera and zooming past this is done by changing values on the scale, position and z axis values. As the camera keeps moving out on its z axis the mountain comes in to place and then the title 'paramount' tracks in from the right this is done by changing the key from on the scale and position of the title.
The colours used in this ident are an excelent choice because they dont come off tochildish but are bright enough to keep a posotive feel on the ident, all the shadows and dark to light contrasts gives the ident a very edgey and stylish look about it. The font of the word 'Paramount' is quite a nice way to top it off as well because that still looks professional but itis ot boring and bland it has good characteristics about it making it nice to look at.
The purpose and intent of this ident is to self promote the company also it is used at the start of all of their films so the audience can identify them.

Lionsgate Ident -

The Lionsgate ident consists of two iron gates opening to the sky with the word reading lions gate. It starts with the camera moving on its x,y and z axis, making it move past loads of cogs moving round, which has been done by rotating them on there anchor point. it the turns around which has been done by rotating the camera, it is now facing two doors which open by having the anchor points placed on the left and right most edges of each door then the layers are made 3D. from behind the doors appears clouds with the lion gate title, these two layers would have been under the door layer so it appeared behind it.
The style of this ident is very clever because at the end you cant take your eyes off of the word 'LIONSGATE' because of the massive contrast between the black text and the beaming white background, which work really well together, also the shading clouds around the edge add to this even more by fadeing inwards towards the text. Also the design has a mature feel about it and doesnt feel to me is aimed any way at a younger audience, like the disney ident is aimed more that way with bright colours unlike this one.

FMP - Proposal

My FMP will be a short film lasting around about 15 minutes, with the genre as superhero and film noir. The story is about a young man who has super powers which are super strength and he knows when someone is in danger or will be in danger, he is homeless and then approached by his guardian who tells him he needs to help people and that he has a greater cause also one day he will change the world. It then skips to a year later and he is on his feet helping out people he has his own flat also. He gets up and walks down the road so he can help anyone in need, he then sees larry his old best friend from college and realises that he is in danger so he follows him and saves his life. When they go back to larry a house the news comes on and Swarovski is in the news. Alex the gets approached by his guardian again. Then Alex goes in search of Swarovski as he is a terrorist and if Alex doesn't stop him he will destroy the world. I feel that my short film will be succesful because there are many similar products such as man of steel, dark knight and dexter. These have all been relatively succesful which means that there is already an audience for my type of film and also it will bring some genera lovers together.

My target audience will be people aged 15 and above because there are some violent scenes and swear words do crop up every so often.
Filming will take around 4 weeks and 2 weeks to edit I have allowe 2 weeks to edit because I have a lot of after effects to add into my film, along side my FMP final short film I will be making a 'making of' documentary to boost my grades from last year also it will be good as behind the scenes footage.

Viral Advert Proposal

I am going to be making a viral advert for my final major project.
the viral advert will last for around 45seconds to 1 minute.
I will be using the footage from my final major project for the viral advert so the audience know exactly what to expect. there are a couple of shots which may not feature in my final major project but these changes will have been made after the viral advert is released.

Filming will take around 4 weeks and 2 weeks to edit I have allowe 2 weeks to edit because I have a lot of after effects to add into my film, along side my FMP final short film I will be making a 'making of' documentary to boost my grades from last year also it will be good as behind the scenes footage. My budget will be about £20 for my viral advert so I can buy any props or costumes that may be needed.
