Ident Evaluation

My final ident idea that I finalised and created was a 3-d perspective type look, it is our Forest Light Poctures logo being built up by every part of the logo bit by bit. Once everything is in place a flash of light comes from the centre of the trees and then fades to reveal a completed logo with a boy holding a lantern. I managed to make the ident by puttin in key frame to change size of the trees and text as I had a camera constantly moving through the composition. This means I had to make all aspects of the ident a 3-d layer so it would track through with the camera. The target audience I aimed for was everyone a I didn't want to brand my ident for any particular company, when to the ident plays at the front of the film it will have themed music for the film itself. The final image that is shown was created separately so we could use it to promote our company.

Ident Breakdown for Forest Light Pictures

Our Ident is made for a our new film company named Forest Light Pictures. The name was formed by me Rob Dunsden and Reggie Menzies we found them name by putting our favourite films together and songs and joining these to come out with a name.
Being the name 'Forest' with our ident I have chosen to base the ident around a forest. The ident is in 3D the camera tracks through a forest eventually ending up with the company logo at the end shown below. There is only two colours used which is black and white. To keep it simple. Our target audience is pretty wide as I want to have a large audience for the films that the company has made so to keep the ident simple and not targeted at certain movie genres enables me to do this. Although with our ident by tweaking one or to fonts or colours you can make it suitable for certain audience and to go with different movie. I could also do this by simply adding different tracks to the ident to give it a happy or creepy feel.

The Shadowing 10 Minute Version

Ident - Forest Light Pictures

Technical Evaluation

I started by creating a new composition with the settings -

I started by adding in the image of a tree silouette with a transparent background, the clicked the -

- button which makes the layer 3-D, which then changes then adds an extra axis the Z axis which allows you to move the image backwards and forewords instead of just up, down and side to side. then i duplicated the layer once to make up the two middle trees of the logo. Then I added the edited version of the tree with an erased side part to the tree and clicked the 3-D button again, then duplicated it to make the outside trees.
Then I added a camera by clicking - Layer > New > Camera - then this menu comes up.

i selected the 35mm lense so i got a short camera movement and the ideal amount of depth of feild i was looking for, for my ident.
Now with the camera added it gives the composition a whole new feel, allowing me to move the view through an image instead of just moving images. this is is what i wanted because i need the trees to look as if they are 3d and move past the camera to form the final logo at the end.

After the camera was in place i started to change the values of the trees so they started behind the camera and are not in the shot, then the camera would move from 0 sec to 7 sec straight down the middle of the compostion meaning that the trees would appear as the camera zoomed past them, when the first tree was in the correct place i set and anchor point on the position setting and scale. then skipped to the 7th second when everything would be in place, then changed the values of the positon and scale so the size of the tree wouls stay the same and the position would change as the camera is still moving through the composition

The Shadowing Soundtrack Planning

For our movie we decided on using a shotgun microphone attached to our camera. We used this because they pick up sound very well where ever you aim the microphone and cuts out unneeded noises such as wind. Throughout the movie we knew sound effects and foley would be needed for our film and so when filming we acted as if we would hear someone or something and would later edit this in. We got all of our soundtrack and foley sounds from the application soundtrack pro.

List of Sound Recordings:

Mud Footsteps (Foley)
Dinosaur Roar (Soundtrack Pro Sound Effect)
Bass Effect (Download)
Stick Breaking (Foley)
Abstract 34 (Sondtrack Pro)
Abstract 48 (Soundtrack Pro)
Bone Break 1 (Foley)
Bone Break 2 (Foley)
Static Wave (Soundtrack Pro Edited)
Scrambling Microphone (Self Recorded)
